Hello Everyone
Just wanted to share our experience to a recent visit to India in June 2014.
India is a beautiful country and everyone must visit it once in their lifetime. We got to learn so many things and experienced lot of things which can only be done in India.
Me and my boyfriend have planned it for a long time and after heavy research we decided to make it happen in june. We visited the capital city New Delhi, the Taj mahal and a trip to Rajasthan.
New Delhi - Though its the capital city but the standards are not up to the mark as compared to the other global cities. But people here are warm and welcoming. Some very good places to visit here like the Presendial Palace, Red Fort, India Gate, Qutub Minar etc......
Agra - City known for Taj Mahal - one of the wonders of world, a beautiful white marbel monument built by a loving husband for his wife. It was really mesmerizing. Then there is one fort nearby and one Baby Taj....
Rajasthan - Started from Jaipur - Pink city with beautiful markets, lots of forts and streets full of lively people, Then Pushkar - A holy city for Indians with one Temple which is one of its kind in world. Then there were udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaislmer - The desert cities where we had lot of fun like Camel rides, Sunrise/sunset in desert, Safari......
Overall i would really like to recommend this country to fellow travelers. Though we were a bit nervous before our trip but thanks to TA which helped us really well in planning this trip.
Here are few suggestions for fellow travelers :
1.) Always book your accommodation well in advance, this way you can really save a fortune.
2.) Tipping is a custom here in India and they would expect you to leave some change while dining etc.
3.) Always check the weather before you plan a city as at times this can really affect your plans.
4.) Always make sure to carry some wet tissues and toilet papers as you might need them if visiting a remote or isolated place.
5.) Always Bargain - this can really bring the price down.

Thanks for sharing! I'm curious how the weather was in June? My husband and I were there in February 2014 - the humidity got to us more than the heat (we were living in Qatar at the time). Did you have a favorite part of your trip? I didn't think I would like Delhi that much, but I ended up enjoying our time there the most.
We also hired Sugar as a driver, and agree with everything you said: great English, safe driver, and so nice! Loved returning to the car to find cold drinks and snacks waiting for us ;-) We've actually kept in touch with him since our return to the States (which is how I found out about your review). Would definitely recommend him.
Anyways, great to hear you had a good trip and hope you enjoys wonderful travels in the future!

THE BEST PRIVATE DRIVER...... ANKIT (a.k.a SUGAR) !! ANKIT Drove us round northern India during our recent trip. He was always punctual, courteous and helpful and his English is superb. He arranged additional trips for us and made sure there was always enough snacks and drinks in the car for our journeys. His car is a 4 seater and air-conditioned. ANKIT is a very good driver and we always felt completely safe even in the chaos of driving in Delhi, Agra and jaipur. He can be contacted by email:

Don,t be daft like me if you have a hankering to discover North India. Don,t play too safe and book a hotel for too long.
Of course to discover North India you must fly into Delhi but dont get stuck there, it has 2 or 3 days to offer at most. the real gig is Rajasthan and to cover this diverse and beautiful state economically on a time budget the best way is to hire an independent and knowledgeable private driver who can organise your whole trip.
There are many such businesses in Delhi good and bad, some registered with the tourist board and others who claim to b.
Through a process of trial and error , I can fully recommend ANKIT (AKA Sugar) my experience with him expelled all doubts. He is knowledgeable, safe, trustworthy, honest and helpful beyond that necessary. He will , and does , find the best and most quirky hotels and book them for you for prices that a tourist could never achieve . In addition he is a really good laugh to be around and his English is wonderful.
Finally he IS licenced by the Tourism Board of India. I learned by mistakes and this recommendation is soly to help others who might want to travel north India like Delhi , Rajasthan and Agra etc to make the right choice. you will love it and i promise have such great laugh and time with Ankit.

We have been in India before and I can tell you Sugar is one of a kind driver. He is very polite, always punctal, kind, knows he's way in India, gives attention to small details, speaks very good english and, most importantly, a very good driver. You'll love him from the first meeting and feel like you know him for a long time.
ReplyDeleteSo, if you need a driver for India,he's your best choice!
Sugar, thank you again for your help!
